Cow Creek Taxidermy and Game Processing was founded by "All-Around Nice Guy" Richard A. Schmidt of Boerne, Texas. Richard was born and raised in San Antonio and has German heritage in Boerne going back over 100 years. Hunting was a way of life, and making sausage, along with all phases of deer processing, was a family tradition. It was through this tradition that Richard learned the skills and recipes that have been passed down for generations. He later processed deer for his own family. Friends and coworkers began to ask Richard to help them process their deer because of his expertise and the superb recipes he uses.
Richard has always had a great love for the beauty of nature. At an early age, he began preserving this beauty in an artistic way through taxidermy. In 1993, Richard began working for a master taxidermist in San Antonio where he refined his skills and learned many new techniques. He decided to go into business for himself doing taxidermy and deer processing. The business has grown by word of mouth and we now serve well over 500 clients on a repeat basis. Richard is a proud member of both the Texas Taxidermy Association and The United Taxidermist Association.
Richard has based his business on his personal beliefs that his work must be done at the highest level of quality and that all transactions will be done with honesty and integrity. Clients experience a personal touch, as well as old fashion humility that leads to a relationship of genuine trust. Richard truly believes that this is "The Way It Oughtta Be." Just ask any one of his customers and they will tell you this is TRUE!
